Nosing About The New 'Radar' Ad
Note the beauty of this ad for the third iteration of Radar, which appeared in Monday's WWD. While aesthetically pleasing, we found its message somewhat confusing. We spoke to an expert in the advertising industry who agreed to comment on the condition of anonymity.
Gawker: So this Radar ad. I don't get the nip/tuck thing.
AD GUY: I think it's specific to the WWD venue.
Gawker: Okay, makes sense. Now what's the deal with the aerial view of a flaccid penis covered in gauze?
AD GUY: That's a nose.
Gawker: Is it, like, suggesting that "We couldn't get it up with our last two versions, but this time, with the help of that injection - which I'm assuming is a metaphor for the injection of funding - we're going to be firm and resolute?"
AD GUY: It's clearly a nose, you idiot.
Gawker: Or are they saying, we may be dicks, but we've got balls—
AD GUY: [Click.]
Gawker: — we're not afraid to take a needle to the nads.
Gawker: We put our balls on the line, that sort of thing.
Gawker: Hello?
Gawker: Okay, thanks anyway.
