Tracy Morgan's Commitment To Developing Character Backstory Lands Him Another DUI
Tracy Morgan, who every week on 30 Rock is required to reach deep into his actor's bag of tricks to play a loose approximation of himself, Tracy "proud as a peacork, baby" Jordan, has been picked up on another DUI charge following a night of some overly enthused celebrating of his ascendancy to Must See TV status. Reports TMZ:
Police sources tell TMZ the comedian/actor was stopped at 4:38 AM in Manhattan after cops noticed he was driving erratically. According to the police report, Morgan "was unable to maintain a position in a lane of traffic." [...]
Edison Alban, spokesperson for the Manhattan D.A.'s office, tells TMZ that Morgan told cops he was drinking beer at a club before he was pulled over. [...]
This is Morgan's second drunk driving arrest. He's currently on probation in Los Angeles for a D.U.I. conviction. The latest arrest could constitute a violation of Morgan's probation and, as a result, he could face jail time in both L.A. and New York.
With his fictional counterpart mirroring the habits of the real Tracy, it shouldn't be all that difficult to justify writing in some bicoastal clink-time for the character, leaving room for the possibility of guerilla location shooting in prison visiting rooms, captured through bulletproof glass with the aid of a smuggled video camera hidden beneath Judah Friedlander's "WORLD CHAMPION" hat.
