A “wake up,” for the unfamiliar, is a term used by soldiers and prisoners in the U.S. when discussing the remainder of their service or sentence. Or, per a user in this Yahoo! Answers thread: “It’s a way of counting how many more days there is left until something happens.”

We will post a photo from the reliably awful world of politics here each morning to keep track of our progress in the American people’s collective sentence—scheduled to conclude on November 8, 2016. As of today, April 11, there are 210 days and a wake up until Election Day.
