Walked into the restaurant August in the West Village (Bleeker and Charles Street) at noon today (Sunday, Sept 24) and Jake Gyllenhaal was eating brunch solo in the front of the restaurant with his blackberry and some reading materials. Eating in the back of the restaurant were Maggie Gyllenhaal (very preggers and with wet hair) and Peter Sarsgaard (with beard)—they were holding hands for much of the meal (so cute!). After Maggie and Peter finished their meal, Maggie went to the bathroom and Peter sat with Jake to chit chat. However, Maggie and Peter left without Jake and Jake continued to casually finish his fruit cup solo. I wonder if they just ran into each other or if this was planned. Maggie seemed to love people watching the other patrons at August
Gwyneth Paltrow was spotted today walking east on Worth St and Church St. Wearing bright pink sweatshirt and walking baby in the carriage. Ponytail, no makeup, looked naturally beautiful.
Anderson Cooper, Sunday September 24, West 51st and 9th Ave, walking south on 9th with
Saw Viggo Mortensen on 6th ave, walking downtown between 49th and 50th. I couldn't believe my eyes. He looked so handsome. People were stopping him here and there, and he would very briefly chat. He was walking surprisingly fast. I think a woman gave him her business card because he looked a little embarrassed. He is shorter then I imagined. Perhaps it was all the tall skyscrapers of Rockefeller center. He had great hair, was wearing a soccer jersey, and was holding a newspaper; it may have been the WSJ. He ducked into the International Center of Photography for a few minutes. I took the subway at times square and he disappeared into the crowd. Wow!
9/22. Cameron Diaz walked into a packed 7A (7th St. and Ave. A) This afternoon with an unidentified male companion. She looked pretty good in black hair and a nice fitting pair of jeans. I think she sat down for a short time but soon was walking out of the restaurant while speaking on her cell. She stopped to make nice w/ a group of guys at the table by the door but explained to them that she was on an important call. She stepped outside and into a black SUV soon followed by her man and they got going soon after.
10/26/06 - Banker friends asked me to submit this sighting, as all Gawker media websites are blocked out by their firewall!!! Will Smith is currently filming something in the lobby of the Citigroup building at 388 Greenwich Ave. The lobby is absolute pandemonium. Yes, his ears are really that big in real life.
I was aboard a star-studded United Airlines red-eye from LAX-JFK last night: Despite the 40-minute delay, I was well entertained by the likes of funnygirl Sarah Silverman with a random dude in tow, going on and on about "Jimmy" (That' would be Kimmel) before playing a very enthusiastic and exaggerated game of peek-a-boo with a little girl. Meanwhile, E! talking head and freshly botoxed Giuliana DePandi unsuccessfully petitioned for a first-class seat (alas, she was relegated to business class) as Lily Tomlin snagged a seat in the waiting area. Going almost completely unnoticed? A tiny and casually dressed Reese Witherspoon with an entourage of two. Mrs. Phillipe had a Fedora pulled down low to hide her eyes, but not her straight blonde ponytail and unmistakable chin. I guess Oscar winners get preferential treatment, even in airports—she was the only one out of the lot to be escorted onto the plane before the rest of us riffraff boarded.
I saw Philip Seymour Hoffman in Washington Square Park this morning, holding hands with a pretty dumpy looking pregnant woman. Could there be a Phillip Seymour Junior on the way? They were heading towards University Place, where he lives.
I saw Julia Stiles (my neighbor two buildings down) walking down 2nd ave with her boyfriend (don't know who he is but attractive) near 10th-9th streets on Saturday at 1pm. Everyone kept doing double-takes saying to friends, "Did you see that? Julia Stiles!"
Saw Diane Lane Friday night (9.22.06) at Jake's Saloon on 23rd and 7th with a super skeevy-looking male companion that did in fact turn out to be Josh Brolin. She was quite pretty, but I sincerely hope that he is cultivating his look for a role.
I was walking out of the downstairs theater at the Angelika after seeing 'The Science of Sleep' on Saturday night and Yoko Ono was standing right outside the theater looking very petite, wearing small cap and looking quite good for her age. Then, seconds later a scruffy Sean Lennon came up and joined her. Very cute to see Mom and son going to the movies together on a Saturday night.
Saw Veronica Webb having lunch at Da Silvano @ 1pm today. Didn't really look supermodelish. Plain but sorta cute.
On Saturday night, the 22nd at 10pm we sat next to Stiffler, Seann William Scott at Tao. He was with a group of about 10 normal guys celebrating his birthday. He was very nice and gracious to his waiter. Later in the night we also spotted him at Stereo. Stiffler was wildly making out with an average looking chick.
I just saw Jack Black with his wife and baby walking into the Dean and Deluca at Broadway and Prince.
12:30 a.m., Sunday, 9.24. Dylan McDermott, walking north on 9th Avenue, right by the Maritime Hotel. Crossed 17th, walked into the corner market, bought a pack of smokes, and continued heading north. Seemed to be having some trouble opening the pack, but looking good despite that in a brown leather jacket and jeans. Alone and ruggedly good-looking.
I saw John Turturro at Gorilla Coffee in Park Slope, Brooklyn on Saturday 23 at around 3:30pm. Very polite and blended in with the crowd so that I don't think others noticed it was him. He was carrying a children's yellow raincoat. He looked very handsome and dignified with very olive skin!
On September 21, Usher walked right by me at Chin Chin (216 East 49th Street) with an entourage of big men. He was little, but very cute, and headed for a back room.
Friday night around midnight at 2A (LES at corner of Ave A and 2nd), comedian Demetri Martin (the Trendspotting guy from the Daily Show) drinking in the upstairs space. He looked just like on TV but was shorter than you'd think - now there's a celebrity newsflash - and was super hot in a vintage green sweater. He chatted with a beautiful Asian girl in a Jimi Hendrix t-shirt. He seemed very nice and didn't notice, or didn't care, when I loudly asked for Jon Stewart's number.
Saw Salma Hayek, Sept. 22 'round 5:00 in the afternoon, on a photo shoot inside the Gianfranco Ferre store on Madison Ave. She looked gorgeous, with eerily perfect skin. She has the shortest torso I've ever seen on a human being.
Tim Robbins playing an energetic game of roller blade hockey with a bunch of guys at the playground at Houston St. and 6th Avenue. He was wearing a bandanna, was enthusiastically vocal and scored several goals.
Saw Kieran Culkin dashing across 3rd avenue and 13th street at 5:30pm today; (Saturday, September 23rd) he looked messy but lovable.
I was having dinner last night at Po over on Cornelia, when Keri Russell and Scott Speedman breezed in. she's far more beautiful in person and although Scott was hiding behind a beard of sorts, you can't miss that handsome face. They lingered at the front for a good 15 minutes before they're table was ready, despite the hostess and bartender greeting them with hugs and hellos.
September 24th-saw Paul Simon, Edie Brickell and family at the Flaming Lips show at Hammerstein Ballroom
I saw Parker Posey last night at the Spiegel tent (at South Street Seaport). She was there for the midnight show with Justin Bond and the Freudian Slippers. She was canadooling with one of the musicians in the band.
Seems like Ralph Fiennes has a thing for a certain tall beautiful brown skinned afro haired waitress that works at Caf Habana on Prince St. in SOHO. I was eating a late lunch on Wednesday the 20th around 5 ish and he appeared looking like he just came from the gym. The minute she saw him they both lit up like 16 year old school kids. It was kinda sweet. They hugged for a long time and kissed. She sat him in a booth and gave him an iced tea. No one else seemed to exist as they held hands and smiled at each other for what seemed like forever. I must say they radiated a definite hotness for each other. They laughed and kissed some more and if she wasn't so nice and cool I would've been hating on her. I overheard someone saying that they've seen him in there before coming in to see the same girl and that they were very into each other.
Just saw Marcia Cross with hubby at Bergdorf's trying on several pairs of black boots. She settled on a pair which I believed to be Prada and left with them on. Very pretty in person she was wearing black leggings and a long black shirt to hide the tummy.
This morning I saw Dean Winters of Rescue Me shooting a new film on 50th street between 5th and 6th avenue. He is even cuter in person and we made eye contact. :)
5:30pm 9/25, I was in an elevator with Elizabeth Berkley at 311 W43rd. Probably coming from an audition upstairs? When I got in some kid doing a show in one of the tiny theatres in the building was chatting her up about his play. I think he invited her to see it - was he just making small talk, or did he know who she was? He might not have - Jessie Spano was looking a little tight in the face. I was a big fan of 'Saved By the Bell' in my middle school days, but the whole thing just made me sort of sad.
Saw Kathy Griffin at Balthazar on Spring Street in NYC. She looked very attractive in person, my friend also had a pleasant little conversation with her. She was with a small entourage of about 3 people.
