A tipster notes the following about Hearst's Quick and Simple:

1. Food, fashion and contest senior editors have left in the last two weeks
2. There are no new business cards being printed
3. A call to Hearst's IT department asking about about Q&S got the response "Didn't they just fold?"
4. Invoices are very late in being paid
5. Everyone company-wide was invited to a bunch of fashion week events except Q&S employees.

Suspicious.

Indeed it is. As always, if you know anything more, drop us a line.

UPDATE: Hearst flack Jessica S. Kleiman assures us that things are well: "This rumor is not true. The magazine's newsstand sales are increasing at a healthy clip every week. Quick & Simple staffers were not invited to Hearst's Fashion Week events because they only involved the eight magazines that carry the most fashion editorial. As with any new startup, there is turnover and all three of the positions mentioned have been filled. Finally, the magazine is moving into new offices later this fall and will have a new address so business cards are not being printed until that time."

Kleiman also suggests that it must be a slow news day, which, well, yeah.
