The time: 9 a.m.
The date: August 23rd
The place: Hot & Crusty, 77th at Lexington Avenue
Sighted: I just saw former NJ governor and gay American James McGreevey exiting the Hot & Crusty on 77th and Lexington. Large coffee plus bag.

We all have our morning routines. Some of us make coffee and read the paper. Some of us watch The Today Show religiously in the hopes of that one of Matt Lauer's hair plugs will fall out during an interview. And still others greet the morning with a quick bone at the Alexander Hamilton Service Area off the N.J. Turnpike. And by "others" we mean "Jim McGreevey" and by "Alexander Hamilton Service Area off the N.J. Turnpike" we mean the "Cheesequake Service Area off the Garden State Parkway."

But seemingly the N.J. Governor has traded in his former hot morning regime for something less crusty - bagel and coffee. And symbolized in the exchange of steamy mornings in the Travel Book section for a normal breakfast routine is McGreevey's shift from closeted gay American to regular old gay American. With simple tips on how to organize your closet.

Indeed, as McGreevey and CFO boyfriend Mark O'Donnell appeared to settle into a suburban life, selling their loft and closing a deal on a $1.5 million house in Plainfield, N.J., McGreevey was all the while secretly plotting his Brokeback comeback - not in politics or begging sessions to win back Golan Cipel, but as Joan Rivers' Queer Eye-like sidekick in Bravo's forthcoming "fabulous discussion" show, Can We Dish? Rivers and McGreevey apparently sealed a deal for McGreevey to appear on the show on August 15th.

So what could possible drag McGreevey out of bed at 9 a.m. on a Wednesday morning? Perhaps it was to bring Mark hot coffee at his office on Park Avenue, but if we know Jim, it was probably something crusty - the auditions for Can We Dish?'s other gay sidekicks took place on West 54th Street, one door down from Gold's Gym. After all, McGreevey is from New Jersey: Come See For Yourself.
