In an interview with Media Ink, Carter insisted that Katz has his support, as well. "I have complete confidence in Alan. We had one argument in nine months, and it wasn't even an argument; it was a disagreement." Katz also dismissed any talk of tension between himself and Carter. "He has been completely supportive," said Katz. "This is one big complicated magazine to run on the business side," said Carter. "There is a learning curve and I think Alan has gone through that and he will be a very successful Cond Nast publisher."

After several months of speculation, Vanity Fair has a new publisher. Edward Menicheschi, most recently president of WWD Media Worldwide, succeeds Alan Katz, who is leaving Cond Nast. A successor for WWD Media Worldwide has not been named.
