Both Variety and THR report the formation of Will Ferrell and sidekick Adam McKay's new production company at Paramount Vantage, but only Var offers insight into why they've mysteriously dubbed the venture Gary Sanchez Productions:

Shingle is named after an ex-NFL kicker from Paraguay who is a friend of the duo's.

Sanchez finances the company and is likely to receive some producing credit on company projects.

"Adam and I have been looking forward to setting up a company for a long time," Ferrell said. "And with Mr. Sanchez's support and vision, we look forward to a long and productive partnership. Viva Paraguay!"

Added McKay: "He is like a spiritual leader for us. He provides moral support and finances outside entertainment."

Several Google searches turned up nothing whatsoever about their alleged patron/spiritual leader, so we're forced to conclude that a) they're just waiting to drop a Dirty Sanchez punchline on us, or b) they're currently hard at work formulating a pitch for Through The Uprights: The Gary Sanchez Story, in which a comically mustachioed Ferrell will adopt an inscrutable accent to portray the fictional Paraguayan place kicker—which, of course, will also probably involve the inevitable Dirty Sanchez joke.
