If an Editor Falls in Iowa, Does It Make a Sound?
Speaking of sudden tumult atop women's-mag mastheads, a reader sends in this update:
Last Friday, somewhere in Des Moines, Iowa, Karol Nickell, editor-in-chief of America's third-largest-circ magazine, was let go. Her successor has not been named. Of course, this happened in Iowa, so, um, nobody probably cares.
Huh. Look at that. It's true. (More or less — seems that maybe Nickell quit after some personnel disputes, or perhaps after sensing she'd be the next to be replaced.) But, even so, the emailer is right: It happened in Iowa so, no, basically no one cares.
