This weekend's LAT Hot Property column reported the sale of Kevin Costner's Hollywood Hills spread to American Idol Ryan Seacrest for $11.5 million, a passing of the luxury real estate baton from fading movie star to inexplicably popular, general-use TV host. A brief rundown of the estate's features:

The 10,000-square-foot Spanish hacienda, on an acre behind gates, has five bedrooms plus staff quarters, a media room, a billiards room, a tennis court, a gym, a pool, a spa and grassy yards.

The property's amenities should provide Seacrest with a variety of interesting settings in which the host can look bored and uncomfortable while being photographed in heterosexual-seeming activities, saving him the long trip to location shoots in Malibu. Also written into the sale was the inclusion of a variety of Costner's unlaundered polo shirts and pillow cases, which the new owner can occasionally sniff while watching Message in a Bottle in the state-of-the-art media room.
