Yesterday, we post-mortemed the premature departure of American Idol contestant Mandisa from the show, asking whether her widely rumored hostility towards adherents of sex involving more than one set of testicles played a part. In their interview with the singer, The Advocate pushed the large-and-no-longer-in-charge diva into a corner, until she finally coughed up the ugly gay-hate within:

Advocate: Would you be comfortable performing or singing at a gay event? Mandisa: I would not, no.

Would it conflict with your religious beliefs?
 Based on what I believe, I'm not an advocate for [being gay], so it's nothing I would take part in.

Do you think that feeling contributed—along with your Web site profile—to some people not voting for you?
 It's possible. Honestly, I'm not sure. I've heard a lot of different theories about what could have happened, and all of 'em sound pretty decent to me. So I just know I did my best and I tried to live my life in public the way I do in my personal life. You know, it was just my time and it could have contributed.

Do you think gay people can turn straight?
 I don't really know. I honestly don't know much about it. I wouldn't be very knowledgeable to speak on that subject.

Now that we know her true feelings on the subject, Mandisa should be commended for maintaining her composure on-air, and resisting her every instinct to berate host Ryan Seacrest every time she watched his back-massaging hand wander dangerously close to the male contestant's sin regions.
