Kiefer Sutherland: Still Chopping
Sure, Kiefer Sutherland likes the occasional drink—really, who doesn't enjoy a pint or two of Guinness before the ritual sacking of the Christmas tree?—but he shook the white, jittery monkey off his back long ago:
"I did like the ceremony, the ritual of preparing cocaine as much as doing it," he tells Britain's Mail on Sunday. "I did it for a year, loved it and then stopped. I feel the same way about cooking now — it's an amazing time to focus on something else."
Indeed, there's nothing quite as relaxing as standing above that mirrored cutting board, watching yourself carefully dicing an onion with the edge of a credit card, feeling that the whole world has melted away while you arrange your meticulous handiwork into neat lines, and knowing those tears trickling down your cheek are from a sacrament well observed.
