Dear Colleagues:
NYTimes.com is celebrating its 10th anniversary by remaking itself.
At your earliest opportunity, click on www.nytimes.com and you will discover a series of new online offerings that are quite extraordinary....
The extraordinary discoveries continue...
- Play with the new navigation tool bar that has been moved to the top of section fronts.
- See how easy it is to search and find content; browse one of the thousands of new "Times Topics" pages.
- Take a look at the "Most Popular" feature that tracks our users' favorite articles, movies and searches; read The Times articles creating the most buzz among bloggers.
- Check out the new video section.
We wholeheartedly believe that you will find this new version of NYTimes.com to be quite compelling and thoroughly entertaining in countless ways.
Later this month, we will unveil what will undoubtedly be one of the site's most appealing new features, "My Times." Our users will be provided with the opportunity to create and manage their own personalized pages on the site with content from NYTimes.com and throughout the Web. As an added bonus, they will also be able to view "My Times" pages created by many of their favorite journalists. This will undoubtedly lead our users to supplement their own pages with new sources, new blogs and new RSS feeds. This section responds to the growing interest of our audiences to personalize their news experience and interact within a community — two of the most significant developments in our industry over the past decade. Just click on the "My Times" tab at the top of the home page and enter your email address to sign up for the beta version of the service.
We also wanted to create some excitement for our advertisers ... and thereby increase online ad revenue. The redesigned site offers balanced ad positions on the home page, larger, more dynamic ad positions, sponsorship opportunities around video, new sections, text links, and new features that will provide a more engaging experience for readers on NYTimes.com.
This project has been a very productive digital, print and business-side collaboration and is a significant step forward for The New York Times Media Group and for our Company. The new NYTimes.com speaks to our journalistic values, our extensive Internet experience, and our commitment to constant innovation. Our thanks to the many people who contributed to this extraordinarily impressive achievement. You've created something that is simply stunning!
