Paula Abdul Hopped Up On Simon Cowell's Goofballs
A Defamer reader, perhaps new to the American Idol party, writes in with a reasonable request:
Please tell me if Paula Abdul was just plain drunk or high on American Idol last night. I swear her eyes couldn't focus and her words sounded slurred....
We're flattered you consider us an authority on such matters, though you might want to consult a second opinion, since we were pretty "plain drunk or high" ourselves at the time, a happy, intentional bi-product of our beloved Idol drinking game. (For what it's worth, we thought Abdul seemed perfectly normal, if slightly fuzzier and in duplicate.) Perhaps The Scoop can better address our reader's concerns, as they note that the symptoms of substance abuse can often be mistaken for the effects of Simon Cowell being silly in your ear:

The story could explain much of her bizarre behavior in this, and past, seasons, and we probably would have bought it, had Abdul not immediately responded to Cowell's query, "It depends...brand name, or generic? And how much of the beans' cost will your prescription plan cover?"
