We're hesitant to write about the murder of Imette St. Guillen, partly because it sincerely scares the shit out of us (that counts as our vocabulary for genuine human misfortune, right?), partly because we're content to let Gothamist ride the beat up to that big Dateline spot in the sky. But as the story develops, it's becoming clear that the bouncer from The Falls, the last bar where St. Guillen, may be more than an innocent bystander in her stomach-twisting death.

The Falls is co-owned by Michael Dorrian, the son of John Dorrian and inheritor of his father's Upper East Side tavern, Dorrian's Red Hand. Coincidentally, both Dorrian's and The Falls are popular spots for the barely-legal bridge and tunnel crowd — Dorrian's especially for those collar-popping suburban kiddies. A much worse coincidence: August of 1986, Dorrian's was the starting point for the "preppy murder" of Jennifer Levin, who met her attacker, Robert Chambers, at the popular bar and was later found dead in Central Park.

After two bouts of such terrible luck, you have to wonder if the Dorrian family is in the right business. Maybe it's time to open something like a petting zoo — though that might not be so great for the animals.
