Dave Winer scares off Steve Kirks
Add another name to "People Dave Winer has alienated." Developer Steve Kirks is sick of the UserLand owner and he's never dealing with UserLand again. Kirks says he had "a destructive one-sided relationship" with Winer. And, well, he makes a pretty good case for it.
First, Dave responded to an IM from Steve with a blog post on Scripting News. Because, of course, everyone reads Dave's blog (you mean you don't? you are so out of the loop), so it's a totally appropriate forum to answer one-on-one questions. I think this post is what Steve's talking about.
So Steve follows up with some technical suggestions, just a typical e-mail. And Dave's reply says "I don't do back channel discussions," and "You're not special. You need to hear that loud and clear." Who pissed in his Morning Coffee Notes?
Anyway, Steve's had a night of "good Scotch and a roomful of friends" and will someday recover from the traumatic mess that is Dave Winer.
