Mediaweek is reporting — and Time Inc. management just confirmed to us — the death toll at 1271 Sixth Avenue today.

Twenty-six non-guild-covered editorial employees have been laid off, plus 40 on the business side. Additionally, buyout offers were extended to a certain number of editorial employees with guild protections. All told, Time Inc. spokeswoman Ali Zelenko reported, the employee reduction — both layoffs and buyouts — won't top 100.

Zelenko also stressed that this is it for now. There may be further cutbacks down the road, but no other axes will fall in the next little while. Which means if you still have your job tomorrow — and if you haven't been offered the buyout — you're safe.

At least for a bit.
