Britney Spears and her army of overworked lawyers are suing Us Weekly over the magazine's claim that Spears and Federline have made a sex tape, and so the dutiful lawyers at Wenner Media have made a call to the Us staff:

As you may know, Britney Spears has initiated litigation against Us Weekly with respects to the Hot Stuff column in the October 17, 2005 issue of Us Weekly (#557).

Our attorneys are requesting that we gather ANY emails/memoranda/correspondence that are on your system or in your files regarding this article (including any discussions regarding Spears' claim after the article was published). This correspondence is needed to comply with the disclosure requirements of the court. To ensure that we comply with this request, you may not remove, alter, destroy or discard any documents, emails, tapes or other data accumulation or storage devices relating to this matter.

We can already see this blowing up into a disgusting mess regarding star reporter Joey Bartolomeo's notes on "Britney Shears."

The stern memo continues after the jump.

Everything should be preserved, even if you would alter, destroy or discard such materials in the ordinary course of business. If you must update a pre-existing document, you should do so only in a matter that preserves all the information in the document, as it existed originally.

In order to prevent confusion over who was sending what email to whom on what date, please print each email and forward the hard copies to me no later than Friday, January 6, 2005. PLEASE DO NOT ELECTRONICALLY FORWARD YOUR EMAILS TO ME - SEND HARDCOPIES.

If you have any questions on searching through the e-mail system, please contact the MIS Help Desk at extension 5555. If you have any questions about these instructions, please contact me at extension 214.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
