Howell Raines, the hard-charging, Jayson-enabling executive editor, stepped down in June 2003, and the only significant thing we've heard from him since was his 20,000-word angry, self-righteous, self-pitying Atlantic cover essay, published the next June.

By a narrow margin, you say Miller's next gig will be "a 20,000-word self-justificatory screed for The Atlantic."
