Agency Discovers New Office Craze; Challenges all PR Agencies to a Corn Hole Throwdown

New York, NY October 19, 2005- Integrated marketing communications firm Maloney & Fox (M&F) has challenged other New York-based firms to a showdown of epic proportions — in a pulse-racing Midwestern game called Corn Hole.

Part Bocci ball, part horseshoes, Corn Hole is a team sport that involves hurling small sacks of dry corn feed through a wooden hole on an oversized game board. The game was brought East by Jilliann Teets, one of M&F's many native Midwestern staff members, who saw a trend in the making and an excuse to "officially" have the office unwind on Thursday afternoons.

The game's instant popularity has prompted M&F to throw down the corn gauntlet by creating The First Maloney & Fox Corn Hole Challenge - a spirited weekly competition among rival agencies that will see the winners receive a case of warm beer and a Corn Hole game set from Ohio-based ORE Boards, the official Corn Hole supplier to Maloney & Fox. The first challengers have already been named — Park Avenue strategic communications agency Peppercom is reported to be warming up in anticipation of a heated showdown. "Corn Hole fits in beautifully with Peppercom's 'Work smart. Play hard.' management philosophy. We're going into this competition with a 'take no prisoners' mindset," said Steve Cody, the agency's Managing Partner and Co-Founder.

In a statement issued from M&F's Fifth Avenue offices, pumped-up partner Margie Fox said of the craze "With so many native Ohioans sharing an office, their passion for obscure sports was bound to rub off on all the others and with the recent construction of an official in-house Corn Hole arena, we are now ready to move into the next phase — a city-wide Corn Hole challenge!"
