Something — don't know what, or when, or why — just blew up on the 59th Street Bridge. A publicist pal sends along this photo, shot at about 1:15 p.m.:

UPDATE: "The Queensboro Bridge has been closed because of a smoky fire in scaffolding and a tarp on the upper level," reports WNBC.com. The bridge is closed to traffic, more than 100 firefighters are on the scene, and no injuries have been reported, the station says.
