The NYPD Is Cooler Than We Are
We know we're supposed to be all technologically cutting-edge, being that we're bloggers and all, but we have a confession to make: We have never, ever listened to a podcast. (We've long suspected that the real phenomenon is the media's excitement for writing about podcasts, rather than anyone's actual excitement for using them.) A Newsday report today, however, suggests we might need to change our tune:
The NYPD is now podcasting.
The first podcast, narrated by retired Insp. Jesse Peterman, includes information on street closings during the UN General Assembly meeting and interviews with a captain about identity theft, as well as with a chief sent to New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
Information on street closings? Tips to prevent identity theft? What it's like in New Orleans? Shit, we'll never learn about those things if we don't start using podcasts. Now we're sold.
