The road to hell is paved with good intentions:

Hurricane Katrina refugees staying at the Houston Astrodome may not have a home of their own, enough clothes or schools for their kids to attend but they will have their Star magazines! Star, in order to "perhaps take their minds off of the devastation and give them some light reading material," according to a rep for the mag, has shipped thousands of free magazines that arrive today. "We will be sending magazines as long as people are still taking refuge there," the rep says. Presumably the freebies end after the refugees are settled elsewhere.

Have the evacuees not already suffered enough? Does the violent fist of Star editor Bonnie Fuller know no mercy? Let's take this moment as a reminder to donate to the Red Cross; the more money they raise, the quicker the refugees can get settled and escape the cruel charity of celebrity weeklies.
