It was just a matter of time, we all realized, but now it's nearly official: Bruce Ratner is gonna get the MTA's Atlantic Rail Yards, which means Brooklyn is gonna get his tall buildings and the Nets. Reports the Daily News:

MTA officials are expected to approve as soon as Wednesday a deal to clear the lane for the Nets to play in Brooklyn, transit sources said yesterday....

MTA board members yesterday were told to come to a special meeting Wednesday where one source expects the board to approve a deal with Ratner, who owns the Nets.

As chroniclers of the media world, what we're most concerned about is this: With approval in hand, what's to become of Ratner's Brooklyn Standard?

Because we're always sad to see a newspaper die — even if it's a boosterish faux-paper pretending to be news.
