Insecurity At The Universal Lot

Forwarded mass e-mail day continues at Defamer, as a soon-to-be inconvenienced reader sends along a note from the powers-that-be at the Universal lot, which may soon find itself being picketed by the subcontracted security force charged with keeping the studio safe and relatively free of out-of-work actors randomly dropping off headshots in every unlocked office:

Please be advised that Securitas Security Services ("Securitas"), the vendor that provides security services for the Universal Studios Lot ("the Lot"), is in the midst of a potential labor dispute with the Union that represents the security guards. Therefore, there is the potential for picketing at the Lot as early as Thursday, September 1, 2005. As the labor dispute is with Securitas and not NBC-Universal ("NBCU"), NBCU has established a reserved gate at the Lot for Securitas employees and vendors of Securitas, at which the picketing may occur.
We'll spare you the rest, but NBC-Uni staffers should make sure they leave for work about two to three hours earlier than usual (that's our suggestion, not from the e-mail); while the picketers will be confined to one gate, who knows what kind of back-ups will be caused by security scabs learning how to use those mirrors that make sure no bombs (or unsolicited screenplays) are strapped to the bottom of your cars. Also, please keep in mind that Universal is merely caught in the middle of this labor strife, so any picket signs referencing disappoinment with Cinderella Man's box office performance should be ignored.
