Saw Angelina Jolie and Ralph Fiennes dining at Girasole on the upper east on Monday night 8/22. She came in around 9:00 and and sat at the back table. He sat down with her about ten minutes later. Friendly hello, kiss, kiss you know the drill. To my surprise she looked better in person than on the screen.

Since I work for the Food Network, I get to go out occasionally with my boss to various joints. Well, this time, I hit a mega jackpot - Angelina Jolie at NOBU TRIBECA (08/25/05 @ or around 8:45pm), STUNNING, STUNNING, STUNNINGLY beautiful in a simple strapless black dress and diamond studs that blinded everyone in the room. She was with two industry types and a very impatient young man who kept a watch on her (bodyguard, perhaps?) But he was eating with them, so I guess he was not a bodyguard. Later on, as if I was not lucky enough, Bob BOB!!! Robert De Niro stopped by the table, that sent the entire staff at Nobu and its clientele in a tizzy. He stayed perhaps for 15 minutes. I walked deliberately by her table to use the restroom, she did not even bat an eyelid and look up to me, but God, what in the world was that perfume she was wearing. I can still smell it. On her plate: assorted sushi — inside out rolls, and that was all and a bottle of Pellegrino. Her purse was probably worth more than 6 months worth my rent.

last friday (8/19) my friend and I stopped @ Bruno Bakery, on w. broadway, for a coffee. we sit down on the small outdoor patio next to Leonardo DiCaprio and Lukas Haas, stopping for a cappucino during a bike ride. Leo looked handsome and surprisingly formidable—tall, tanned, and in shape. my friend buckled after taking a long look at his back muscles through his plain white tee. lukas was sporting an ugly fedora-type hat, scrubby facial hair, and asked leo if he had anything in his teeth. i've heard he's a fellow 'mo, and it sure seemed he was. the patio was dead silent as they sipped, save for me and my friend who compensated by jabbering loudly and "acting natural." to their credit, they stubbed out their marlboro reds when the waitress told us to stop smoking on the patio.

Sat in front of a disheveled, but polite Rosie O'Donnell at the matinee performance of "Fiddler on the Roof" on Saturday She was wearing a faded black T-shirt and black sweats, her hair hadn't been brushed all day, and she wasn't wearing a stitch of makeup. It wasn't a good look. But perhaps the most disturbing part — was what I noticed as I followed her down the escalator. I think her shoes could have been the most heinous things I've seen in a while. She wore high tops! I mean, who OWNS high tops? But not just any high tops. They were black with pink, blue and green spray paint on them — and the worst part — I think it was on purpose. I must say ... despite her tragic fashion sense, she was quite pleasant to everyone who acted like they knew her. Including me.

Saw Holly Hunter at Le Gigot in the west village on 8/18. She was eating with her BF and another couple. She is miniature.

Was having lunch at Soho House and saw Gwen Stefani having a meeting in the restaurant wearing her signature sweats and Adidas slides. She her people looked to be having a serious meeting.

I was waiting for the bus on the corner of 64th and cpw today(8/25), zoning out with the ol' ipod, when Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard appear directly in front of me. The sidewalk was deserted, and they had the audacity to stand directly next to me while they hailed a cab, I was a mess! I was all flustered and kept taking my headphones on and off and doing weird stuff with my hair. She has beautiful eyes, and he just exudes male celebrity hotness.

Saw Mary Louise Parker on Sat. at U. Squ. Farmer's Market around 11am, walking her very blond son in a stroller with a friend, no makeup and died dark hair which made her look even more ghostly, though I thought she was pretty.

Last night 8/23 I was shopping at my favorite stores in the world, the Town Shop on the UWS and saw Phylicia Rashad perusing nighties and talking to the gutteral voiced propreitor. She was purty and wearing a kind of sari. It makes me happy to know she knows good bra. Yay.

Saw Usher, Jay-Z, and Damon Wayans going into Butter on Monday night, August 22, with their respective entourages. I, on the other hand, remained outside. I understand Usher and Jay-Z, but Damon Wayans? Come on...Homey don't play that...

Drew and Fab @ shopsin (overpriced soup joint) on carmine street today (8/25). He was making faces at her through the window, she giggled and made faces back. Strange relationship.

While on cigarette break I spotted Uma Thurman cat-walking south down Broadway, hips thrown forward, bare midriff ablaze at 5:15pm today 8/23.

Last night (8/24) at the B.E. Ellis reading at Half King (never going to another reading at a BOOK STORE, having it at a bar is GENIUS) Kip Pardue showed up. He is absolutely adorable, and let myself and a girlfriend sit at his table with him.

This Friday, August 19 I saw Sarah Silverman at the 10:40pm showing of the 40 Year old Virgin. She was in the bathroom and was helping out her fellow girls by holding a stall door that was out of order. After the ladies room she joined her date, a balding Jimmy Kimmel and left the theatre. She was very friendly and everyone seemed to recognize her, but no one said anything.

Saw Alan Cumming at Nowhere on Friday night, playing pool and wearing some variation on hospital scrubs adorned with a cluster of little ribbon/medal-style doo-hickeys. He's a looker, folks.

Saw Jeff Goldblum at the Sunday (8/21) performance of Two Gentlemen of Verona, looking relaxed and suave. He came early and sat alone for about 20 minutes until a ladyfriend showed up. A few people came up to him and he seemed good humored and gracious. Gave the show a standing O along with everyone else.

Tuesday, August 23: Went into Perlandra, a granola-freak market in Brooklyn Heights, to pick up lunch today and stood in line next to Gabriel Byrne, who ordered a mix of steamed vegetables and tofu brown rice. He's very softspoken, although the quiet brogue gave him away. Seemed a bit dazed and confused....maybe not used to ordering lunch from a deli counter? Was told by the trying-to-hard deli attendant that Gabe lives in the nabe. Who knew?

sunday 8/21 i was getting a manicure near union square when in walks Julie Delpy asking if she could get an hour-long massage. she was wearing a very plain black cotton sundress, no makeup, and worst of all—slouchy white socks and white sneakers. she looked more like a midwestern tourist than a french movie star. nobody else seemed to recognize her.

Before last nights (23 Aug) performance of Glengarry Glen Ross, I spotted Lauren Bacall loitering in the theatre's vestibule by the box office. She was clad in a flax linen oversized, shapeless pantsuit (with a sansabelt) and was sporting those mesh and velcro aqua sock style Nike sneakers. She was by herself, holding her playbill over half her face, looking around suspiciously. A fellow theatregoer approached her politely and tried to exchange pleasantries, but an unappreciative Bacall mumbled back something unintelligible and made a crabby sourpuss face at the fan.

8/22 -I saw Gaby Hoffman on 5th Avenue & Garfield in Park Slope. She was wearing way too many layers for how warm it was outside & she desperately needs to wax her brows. She looked really pissed off.

8/22 — saw Dean Cain in Soho yesterday afternoon. A little heavier than he was in his cape-and-tights days, but still cute.

Yoko Ono and Sean Lennon at Spice Market around 11 (8.23). She looks exactly like she does in photos, and Sean was surprisingly kinda hot.

Michael Showalter (Stella on Comedy Central) yesterday on the 4/5 train headed downtown around 5:30. Boppin' his head really awkwardly to whatever was on his iPod. Read my NYTimes Arts section over my shoulder, then asked to have it when I was done. Full of nervous energy. No one paid him any mind.

Sunday, 8/21/05 Saw Morgan Spurlock and gal in Beacon's Closet, Williamsburg selling clothes. I lurked around while they were buying his clothes and sure enough, there were a ton of anti McDonald's t-shirts. Looks like if anyone gave him a t-shirt about his film, he sold it in there. Not sure why he needed to sell his clothes for money.

Dinner at Extra Virgin last night, around 830. Lauren Bush walked in looking for someone... At first I doubted myself, but then when she exited I saw David Lauren and so I knew it was her. She looked very very pretty, in an orange-ish jacket (? too many glasses of wine) and maroon Luella bag. Very skinny and short. David was just too blah to mention anything more. Although I do believe he had the collar of his Polo annoyingly popped.
