Arts-organization publicists around New York City who have continued to address their mailed press releases to once-but-no-more Times Arts editor Jodi Kantor have been receiving this form letter in reply:

It raises several questions.

First, is it beneath the Times to simply forward the old editor's mail to the new editor, like every other publication in the world?

Second, what happens if you're actually trying to send mail to Kantor, still a reporter at the paper?

And, finally: In the post-Jayson Blair, post-Siegel report, we-correct-all-mistakes era, will public editor Barney Calame address the small fact that the paper can't spell her first name correctly?

That would be a fun column.
