Defamer PSA: Beware Fake Casting Calls
Warning! The "open casting call" that begins in the VIP area and ends up near a dumpster in the alley behind your favorite Hollywood hotspot may be a scam. (Is nothing in this town real anymore?) From the casting section of the Bunim-Murray website:
There recently have been people claiming to hold casting calls for our shows, but who are not affiliated with Bunim/Murray Productions, or our shows in any way. We NEVER charge people to audition for our shows and we NEVER do casting at nighttime club parties. Any organization that you see doing these things under the guise of doing casting for The Real World or Road Rules are not affiliated with Bunim/Murray Productions or the shows in any way. We DO list all of our open calls right here and we DO keep this site updated with our latest casting information. If you're unsure about a casting call in your area, just come here to find out if we're the ones hosting it. If we're not involved, it's not a casting call for those shows.
Or, if you're already at the club party and you've been invited for an informal try-out designed to measure your natural resistance to tequila shots while your t-shirt is soaked in freezing water, just ask the guy with the bottle and the hose if he's officially affiliated with the company. He's compelled by the ethics of the casting profession to tell you the truth.
