When a pack of about 40 stray dogs threatened to interfere with Disney's construction of its Hong Kong theme park, the company asked the local government for a little help:

"We felt that they posed a safety threat to our staff, so we asked the government to take them away," said Esther Wong, a spokeswoman for Hong Kong Disneyland. [...]
Albert Hui, a spokesman for Hong Kong's agriculture department, said 45 dogs had been rounded up at the Disneyland site since May, the Associated Press reported. He added that some of the animals had since been destroyed, though there were no records of how many.

Before animal rights activists decry the death of the inconvenient canines, they should realize that Disney performed due diligence before asking for their removal. During extensive screen testing, a team of casting directors determined that none of the dogs could play a round of golf, adorably slurp spaghetti across a checkered tablecloth, or recite a single line of dialogue from An Extremely Goofy Movie. Disney officials are also "reasonably certain" that none of the destroyed animals were actually cast members test-driving Pluto costumes at the new site.
