TV Critics Miss Les Moonves' Thirst For Zucker Humiliation
With eminently quotable Viacom co-president/future galactic dictator Les Moonves tied up with corporate world domination meetings in New York, overmatched CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler was left to face journalists at the Television Critics Association convention yesterday. The LA Daily News reports that Moonves was sorely missed:
When Moonves is on the dais, reporters compete fiercely to shoehorn in their questions. With Tassler presiding over the press conference, it was very easy to pose a question, less so to get it answered. She even demurred when a reporter asked if she wanted to take a shot at Moonves' favorite punching bag, NBC's Jeff Zucker.
There's no demurring in Zucker abuse! If anything, Tassler should've erred on the side of outrageousness, perhaps threatening to sucker-punch Zucker's wife in the breadbasket and scribble the Nielsens from the Joey finale on the NBC chief's head with her lipstick. Maybe she'll get a shot at redemption before Moonves returns to sate the critics' bloodlust, but these kinds of precious opportunities can't be squandered.
