Remarkably, there was no new news all week last week about new stadiums in New York City. But the NYC2012 people are making sure that this week won't be left similarly stadiumless. Exciting, yes? Um, no.

Lacking the high-tech look of the rejected West Side stadium, the design of the new Olympic stadium in Flushing, Queens, was unveiled by NYC2012 yesterday. Its major architectural flourish is that it actually has a design just two weeks after the plan was conceived.

The exciting silver lining: In nine days, the IOC will make its decision, and it won't pick New York, and we can all stop pretending this might actually happen.

We can't wait.
