Do you remember — oh, you must — the September 2004 Vogue? The one that was terrifying thick and added point-and-click shopping on a special companion Web site? It ran to an awe-inspiring 832 pages — some 190 of which, publisher Tom Florio said then, were ads for new advertisers presumably drawn in buy the shop-online angle. It brought in $60 million in revenue.

Turns out it also brought in a big fat lawsuit from Activ8now, which makes the technology that drove the interactive ads. Reports Mediaweek:

Online technology firm Activ8now, and its operating company, Active8media, filed a suit in United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia for patent infringement and trade secret misappropriation against Advance Publications.

And it gets better: Rumors are floating that all those advertisers might be exposed to liability on this, too. Heh.
