I don't know how to tell you guys this, but... Politicians are pretty damn cozy with the media. Also: Manhattan is an island, the subway smells like ass, and the sky is blue.

Regarding that initial media scoop, Times media sleuth David Carr suggests that much like whatever free counsel she surely gives her husband, California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Shriver holds considerable influence over her friends at NBC's increasingly-awkward morning bonanza. The Times has obtained emails suggesting that in order for author Laurence Leamer to book an appearance on the Today Show to promote his new biography of Schwarzenegger, Leamer must first get the green light from the theoretically uninvolved Shriver.

A governor's wife gets to approve relevant content for a top morning show? Got it. So when Shriver has a heart attack because of potassium deficiencies, we shouldn't expect to see any coverage on NBC.
