Air America Rumors: Al Franken to Sell Out?
Hey! Are you listening to Air America right now? No? Oh. Well, you might as well try it out 'cause their days might be numbered.
In addition to being sued by co-founder and non-break-catcher Lizz Winstead, their biggest name may be departing the glamorous Talk Radio world for a stab at local politics, as we're sure you've already heard.
Al Franken bought himself a Minnesota townhouse a few weeks back as part of a step towards to establishing residency in anticipation of a Senate run against Norm "Galloway's Bitch" Coleman. But we hear that Air America's Minnesota satellite might be too small-time for Mr. Co-Creator of "LateLine" — if Franken moves his show to his home state, he's likely to switch to a bigger station. Right now, that means talk about a syndication deal with the dreaded Clear Channel, destroyer of everything indie and local.
And, of course, should Al run for office, campaign finance laws would require that he stop his show completely. Which could be the effective death of Air America, at least in markets where Sam Seder is not a huge draw.
So hold your radio close, Air America fans, and just be thankful that your Great Left Hope survived long enough to permanently sabotage the War on Terror. -AP
