Okrent v. Krugman: The Battle of the Bureau of Labor Statistics
Was that it? Really?
The battle between Paul Krugman and Daniel Okrent is posted (in its entirety?) on Barney Calame's Livejournal, and it's really something of a disappointment.
Krugman's all "I used official government data in a standard way," then he's like, "dude, if you had beef, why didn't you just talk to me about it first?"
I hope we aren t going to get into an extended period in which Mr. Okrent, who failed to air his concerns when that was his job, then failed even in private to provide examples that bear any resemblance to what he accused me of doing, keeps throwing out new accusations.
Orkent's response: When I accused Paul Krugman of lying in my last column, I didn't expect him to respond. I don't have any of my files! Krugman just hates being proved wrong, which I did. Don't get me wrong, I'm a liberal! Let me reiterate the same points here. Now I must be the bigger man and walk away from poor, deluded Paul Krugman.
Krugman's response to Okrent's response: Okrent's a punk. -AP
