Evidence of the alleged victim's bouncer-induced bruises (click to enlarge).

Yesterday, our party coverage stopped (or lingered endlessly) at the official Radar launch party. But an attendee at the Radar after-party, held at Marquee, reports another incident of magazine-related fisticuffs. And this one doesn t involve any baked goods, but it does involve bruises:

Wednesday night my friend Sarah came home with severe bruises on her upper arms and badly scraped and bruised legs. She was roughed up by an approximately 400 lb bouncer from the club Marquee. He approached her in thecorner table where she was dancing with her friend. He told her to get "her shit and get out." She resisted at first, asking why they were being evicted from the club as there was no discernable reason-no one was smoking, standing on furniture etc. They weren't even drinking at that time as they had just moved into the section and had been in the club all of five minutes. Their purses and jackets were lying along the back of the booth, which initially they sort of figured was the problem so they removed them readily.

The basics of these events have been confirmed to Gawker by other eyewitnesses; one side of the harrowing account (which doesn't have anything to do with Radar so much as their choice of venue and manner of event-planning) is retold in full after the jump. -KEW

Things quickly escalated when the bouncer became irate and grabbed Sarah by her arm very roughly and called for "back-up." She did resist his arm around her as his grip was vice-like and painful. As she weighs about 120 this proved to be impossible, and subsequently the bouncer became more and more rough. By the time they reached the top of the two staircases leading to the main dance-floor he had her in a head-lock and had lifted her off the ground. He dropped her by the glass wall overlooking the dance-floor and pushed her into the glass while holding her arms behind her while still maintaining the arm around the neck. She wailed back with her hand and made brief contact with his eye as she was terrified-not only was she being choked into submission with the distinct possibility that she may lose consciousness, but as she was being forcibly dragged to the top of the stairs she was terrified that he was going to throw her down the stairs as well.

He pushed her through the club where she was deposited in the hallway with the two owners of the club who to their credit tried the feign an almost believable concern about the fact that their employee beat up a girl. They even at one moment kindly offered "a drink in the RED room" (maybe that s a very, very VIP section of the club.) At this Sarah answered incredulously along the lines of; why would I ever want to set foot in this club again?

Apparently these fine young entrepreneurs placate other victims of violent abuse with appletinis and cosmos. They did promise the bouncer was going to fired, but as you can imagine they were saying anything they could to make sure no law enforcement became involved and no citations were issued. Sarah has dark bruises on her arms and badly scraped knees from when he threw her to the cement at the top of the stairs. I share this story with you becauseit shocks me that in a nightclub in New York a man three times the size of a woman is able to almost choke her to death with barely any ramifications whatsoever. If this happened in Central Park it would be indicative of New York's descent into a "pre-Guiliani" urban nightmare environment where crime lurks around every corner. It is sickening to me that the proprietors of this establishment allow this violence to go on in their establishment unchecked.
