Michael Wolff And Vanity Fair: Not Necessarily BFF

You know how those media bitches are when they get gossipy: Everyone's two steps away from getting axed — hell, Bazaar editor Glenda Bailey has been "so totally on her way out" since 1984. So when people chatter about Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter, we don't really pay attention. But, if they chatter about Carter and his media whoring houseboy Michael Wolff? We'll take out our overpriced earbuds and listen.
It was reported that Wolff's latest buzz-in-Britain piece for Graydon — about former Home Secretary David Blunkett's affair with Kimberly Quinn, publisher of the Spectator — received a poor reaction, particularly since Quinn's husband is UK Vogue publisher Stephen Quinn. And Condé Nasties stick together, so that piece has been held (we're guessing indefinitely). Meanwhile, Graydon's getting heat for even thinking of running a story that might be embarassing to a company cousin, and that heat's transferred to Wolff, who's reportedly so far from Graydon's good side, he might as well be Toby Young.
We could just be hearing things. Then again, Wolff's latest rant did seem like the start of a very public job hunt. And the New York Press certainly seems eager to showcase Wolff's talents and availability. So if Graydon kicks him out of the VF mansion, maybe Wolff won't have to cruise the mediabistro boards after all.
