'VF' And Wynn Las Vegas: Luxury Is As Luxury Does

The June issue of Vanity Fair redefines the term "exclusive" with its decidedly not-exclusive look inside Steve Wynn's new Las Vegas hotel. Naturally, a heavy-pocketed posse asserts the hotel's opening as the second coming, according to HotelChatter:
The article goes on to quote a bunch of Wall Street gurus who fawn all over Steve Wynn. Milken, Baron, and others all take turns giving Wynn high praise and comparing Emperor Goldmember [Wynn] to everyone from Isaac Stern to Renoir.
Jeez, high praise indeed, you would think that Wynn Las Vegas discovered the cure for AIDS. Just to be clear: We have stayed at the Wynn, and while it is a extremely nice Las Vegas hotel, as far as we know, the cure for AIDS is not inside one of the 2700 rooms. However, according to Vanity Fair, Wynn spent roughly nine times the amount of money the U.S. government spent on the worldwide AIDS crisis to create Wynn Las Vegas.
Yeah, but would the AIDS crisis get a masturbatory, glossy spread? Would Condés be able to expense a South-African themed suite? Can a Zimbabwean orphan blend seamlessly into a poolside bar scene? Think about the big picture, people.
