Mayoral candidate Fernando Ferrer has recently hired Democratic PoweR Girl Jen Bluestein as his campaign's chief spokesman but, as a commenter on The Politicker deftly notes, Bluestein's promotional skills aren't simply limited to politics:

If guru Jen Bluestein is as good at promoting Ferrer as she is at selling the Today Sponge Contraceptive, they won't need any paid media.

Why, whatever could this person be talking about? A Chicago Tribune article explains:

The years have not dimmed the fierce loyalty of consumers like Jen Bluestein, 32, of New York.

While acknowledging that she was not nearly as passionate about the sponges as Elaine [from Seinfeld] was, she was nonetheless delighted to learn that her favorite contraceptive will once again be available.

"I was in college when they stopped producing it, and it's just a very attractive choice to have," said Bluestein, a political consultant.
