KABC-7's website reports a tragedy on the set of Fox 2000's remake of My Friend Flicka:

The broken-neck death of a wild mustang during filming of the movie "My Friend Flicka" led city animal control to ban future use of wild horses during the remake of the 1943 movie classic.

The Animal Service Department issues animal-use permits to the film industry. Spokeswoman Karen Knipscheer says the horse reared up, got caught in lines and fell. She says Fox 2000 Pictures obtained the required animal-use permit but its horse handler failed to secure the necessary permit.

Let the rumors begin! Sources reveal that the horse was spotted in a VIP booth at the Spider Club on Sunday night, blowing rails off of Paris Hilton's thighs, then showed up to work three hours late yesterday, attributing his tardy arrival and lack of energy to a sudden bout of the flu.
