The FDA reapproves the contraceptive Today Sponge, which should hit pharmacy shelves in roughly four months. Translation: American women can go back to playing Spongebob-no-pants without condoms. Sluts everywhere rejoice (and we should know!)

The end of the popular vaginal insert inspired a "Seinfeld" episode in late 1995 titled "The Sponge," in which the character Elaine Benes hoarded a case of sponges because she loved them so much.

Elaine (played by Julie Louis-Dreyfus) decided that she would tap into her limited supply only when a truly "spongeworthy" man came along.

"[This is] great news," said Marisa Dawson of Orlando, Fla., a longtime Today Sponge fan who, like Elaine, hoarded sponges after their market absence. She said she was forced to turn to a French brand and eventually bought Today Sponge imports when they went on sale in Canada two years ago.
