Daily Show 101 With David Javerbaum
Yesterday, Daily Show head scribe David Javerbaum gave an enlightening talk at the suffocated students at Harvard. A Cambridge reader kindly paraphrases:
Q: Do you feel a kind of journalistic responsibility?
DJ: No. We have no journalistic integrity.
Q: But does the Daily Show have an agenda?
DJ: No, our job is to be funny. [The best jokes] marry the joke with opinion, [so you] don't realize you're getting preached to.
Q: On self-reflection — is there any?
DJ: We're hermetically sealed off [from the outside world]. Too much navel-gazing is bad for us, we don't do [it].
Except for right now.
