Useless Silly: The Animated 'New Yorker'

Here's the answer to a question you never asked: Wouldn't it be great if those little New Yorker line art doodles had a narrative?
We can't tell you how many times we've been immersed in a Sy Hersh report on Abu Ghraib or a delightful Adam Gopnik meditation on how New York park benches differ from those in Paris and we find our eyes drifting to the drawing of a fire hydrant and we wonder, What would happen if a dog peed on that hydrant? And then another dog came and smelled the pee? And then a bird landed on it?
Well, now we know, courtesy of The New York Times. We are so, so grateful.
