Enjoy today's meditation from the New Yorker profile of "unorthodox" William Morris president Dave Wirtschafter:

“Gary Fleder is a director, a very good director, who did ‘Runaway Jury.’ He is not Steven Spielberg, but every time he directs he gets $4.75 million. So you should want to be part of a team developing lots of projects for him. There has to be an allowance for passion, and you may have a hundred thousand-dollar writer you believe in, and that’s great. But it’s no longer ‘my list,my people, my stuff.’ Because you would have to represent forty-seven and a half one hundred-thousand-dollar journeymen writers to equal one Gary Fleder movie.”

Bonus meditation: If Gary Fleder were a $4.75 million angel, how many Gary Fleders could dance on the head of a pin?
