There's a mysterious item from yesterday's Mediaweek about Lizz Winstead's departure from Air America Radio, the liberal station she helped build and for which she co-hosted Unfiltered with Chuck D and Rachel Maddow. (You also may have seen the open request for info posted on Romenesko's letters page.)

Here's what Mediaweek's Katy Bachman wrote:

No reason for her departure was given. In a prepared statement, the network said, We plan to take the show in a different direction.

Different direction? Lizz has been virtually erased from the Unfiltered page, replaced, it seems, with Maddow's adorable chocolate lab, Brewster. We're big dog fans, but we're also huge fans of Lizz's work. You may have heard of a little show she co-created for Comedy Central back in the day. (Hmmm, wonder if that thing's still on the air.)

Anyway, we hope Lizz is okay and ready to come back with another great idea. We also hope, more than anything, that her departure doesn't have anything to do with another Kilborn-type "situation," if you catch our meaning.

Lizz, if you're reading this, drop us a note and tell us what's up. Coffee's on us.
