Liz Smith takes a break from covering boring old actors and their dumb self-congratulatory awards today. For some reason, she chooses to open her column with a look at posable, lifelike right wing talking doll, Ann Coulter:

"Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a damn," wrote Gore Vidal.

Well, in that case, I suppose we can say the conservative writer Ann Coulter has lots of style. Although Ms. Coulter and I are from different color states, she made the following remark to someone who asked what she thought of President George W. Bush since the Doug Wead tapes were published in all their candor. "It just makes me love him more than ever!" said Ann.

Aww. Well, that's the second nice thing Coulter had to say this week.

The first? This, of course:

Press passes can't be that hard to come by if the White House allows that old Arab Helen Thomas to sit within yards of the president.

As Editor & Publisher reports, her syndicator eventually saw fit to change the wording a bit to describe Thomas—a 60 year veteran journalist—as "dyspeptic," instead.

Damn P.C. thought police! Who empowered them to clean up Coulter's racist, incoherent ramblings anyway? What's next? Will they go back in time to Sept. 13, 2001 and fix the post-9/11 column in which she expectorated:

We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war.

Lovely, Annie. She's just as sweet as pie. Arsenic pie.
