Hunter S. Thompson definitely would've wanted it this way: The New York Post has some suggestions for honoring the great writer's memory:

1. Heineken at the White Horse Tavern (567 Hudson St., at 11th Street), where great writers mix with frat boys.

2. Chivas Regal on the rocks at Kettle of Fish (formerly the Lion's Head), in the West Village (59 Christopher St., at Seventh Avenue South).

3. A Hunter combo platter - Dom Perignon, fresh-fruit frozen margaritas, Heinekens and room service - at the Four Seasons (57 E. 57th St., off Park Avenue).

Writing this useful guide in Thompson's style was a nice touch, too.
