Making the News Prettier
Proving there's nothing he can't make just a little more superficial, Wallpaper* founder Tyler Brûlé looks at TV talking heads in the new issue of T (The Times style magazine, don'tcha know) and wishes they could be a lot more fabulous:
TV news executives have failed to recognize that a poorly turned-out correspondent, no matter how articulate or informed, is a distraction. This needs to be remedied.
Die-hard broadcast journalists might argue that such an obsession with appearance is superficial and detracts from the storytelling. Fair point, which is why there's also a medium called radio for those who can't be bothered with a comb or an iron.
We agree. That's why we used to read Wallpaper*, since we preferred a magazine that couldn't be bothered with articles.
