New York, are you bipolar? How else to explain the very strange juxtaposition of book reviews in this week's issue?

On the one hand, you've got Nancy Schoenberger on Front Row, the unauthorized biography of our favorite frosty fashionista Anna Wintour, "a cautionary study of the limits of biography-as-comeuppance."

On the other hand, you've got Keith Gessen on Shake Hands with the Devil, a book about genocide in Rwanda. (Personally, we felt the two pieces could have switched headlines: J.G. Ballard's title would've been perfectly appropriate for Schoenberger's review.)

We would call this ironic juxtaposition, but as we all know, irony died three and half years ago.
