Very late Saturday night (1:53 AM, to be exact), blogger and SPIN writer Sarah 'Ultragrrrl' Lewittin decided to address the tempest in a Teany cup that arose after last week's New York Post story Under Their Influence, about super cool kids and their super cool goodies.

In an entry headed TRUST NO ONE, Ultragrrrl sets off the blog world equivalent of a Maoist Purge, calling out bloggers for their love of freebies and gimmes, in particular invites to the premiere of DIG! last year, even going so far as to reproduce an email from a redacted party urging recipients to:

REMEMBER: You guys have to write about this in your various media outlets, wherever possible. It's a trade — awesome premiere for an awesome film and an awesome party for a load of new media press about the film.

AWESOME!

We did recall a lot of bloggers writing about that film last year, but we can't say if this is linkola, or just a perfect storm of good movie, free beer, and bloggers who love anything that makes their childhood friends back in Kansas jealous of their 'awesome' (there's that word again!) New York lives. After the jump, more Dig! puns than you can shake a shovel at.

Are publicists ruining blogs? Not sure. But we are sure that everyone who wrote about The Week Magazine's panel discussion on love at Grand Central this time last year did so out of genuine , sincere interest.
